The Color Purple

Filed under: Uncategorized — Howard Scott Silverman @ 2:34 pm

Without encouragement, the color purple has become Gabrielle’s favorite.  That is, only the purple-colored bottle of water is acceptable to her.  “Purple wa-wa”.

This preference is evidently a recessive, heritable trait as two prior generations of Silvermans also claim purple – although it doesn’t do much for me or Yael.

Gabrielle can also now count to 4 on her own and 10 with some encouragement.

She also does A through G and finishes the alphabet with support.

Maybe we should work on the Declaration of Independence next.  Now that would really be something for a 16 month old!

Out on the town

Gabby enjoyed a fabulous weekend out and about in Chicago.  Before hitting the clubs, she fueled-up with Elmo.

Not sure what she likes more, Elmo on TV or the organic Elmo pasta on her face.

Then it was off to The Standard Club’s annual children’s party.

Here you can see Gabby feeding the animals and stalking the pigmy goat for a candid shot off her cell phone, before darting off to the indoor carnival!

Though her sugar-powered energy seemed boundless, she ultimately succumbed to exhaustion.

Gabrielle Purchases Chair

Filed under: Uncategorized — Howard Scott Silverman @ 10:25 am

Not content to “purchase” just any old chair, Gabrielle had to purchase her OWN chair.

Only thing Gabby regrets is that Elmo wasn’t available to be the first holder of the Silverman Chair in Natural Sciences.

We settled on Victor Ambros – discoverer of microRNA and winner of a Lasker “American Nobel” in 2008. Maybe Elmo can have it after Victor?

Gabby’s First Love

Filed under: Uncategorized — Howard Scott Silverman @ 8:26 pm

I wonder if Gabrielle will remember her first love as well as I do.  I still miss my blankie.

Gabrielle’s affection, however, is unambiguously and enthusiastically for her little furry friend Elmo.

When she wakes up in the morning, she consistently calls out for the three essentials:   first mommy, then food and then Elmo.  Same exact ceremony every single day.

Evidently, Daddy has simply become a vehicle for satisfying these basic requirements.

We have books, DVDs, puzzles, and dolls.  If any additional paraphernalia exists, I’m sure we will soon own that too.
