Noah: 21 Month Snapshot

Filed under: Uncategorized — Howard Scott Silverman @ 5:42 pm

Noah is quite the character.  He can be quiet and sweet one minute while screaming and stomping his feet in protest a moment later.

Here are a few tidbits about our little man:

1)  He loves things that move:  Planes, cars, bikes, motorcycles, scooters, trains

2)  He hates to be IN the things that move:  Not a fan of flying and the only way to get him to sit in his car seat is with bribes.

3)  His favorite new game is pointing out all the things that move:  If we don’t acknowledge that he’s seen a plane, when he announces it, he isn’t too happy with us.

4)  He still loves to vacuum, though took a couple week vacation from the daily “vah” while we were in Miami for the holidays.  Back at it again in Chicago.

5)  His language has exploded.  He now strings together 3-4 words regularly.  It still takes a patient mommy or daddy to translate.

6) His has two volumes.  Silent and loud.  He refuses to say yes, other than to nod his head.  But, you will certainly know when he wants or doesn’t want something.

7)  His pronunciation is a work in progress.  ”Gog gog” for dog.  ”Dri” for drive.

8)  His favorite word is “gigi” and “my turn”.

9)  His favorite sentence is “help me”.

10)  His favorite food is “lalo” which we give him credit for coining.  We have discovered it as an incredibly convenient way to refer to squeezable fruit snacks.

11)  His favorite dessert is “ot ot cake”, which includes cakes, cookies and ice cream.

12)  He’s coined a few other words but we still haven’t figured out what they mean.

13)  His favorite show is anything with trains, but mostly Thomas.  ”Mmm mmm train” is what he calls trains.

14)  He is turning into quite the athlete.  He has boundless energy for “baseball” (any game with a ball) and until recently refused daddy’s shoulders, instead demanding to “run”.

15)  He still has blue eyes and sandy hair.  And, he uses his good looks and charm to flirt with the ladies. He’s perfected the shy game.

In short, he’s deliciously cute.

Amber alert: Someone stole my 4 year old . . .

and dropped off an adolescent

Yes, I’m convinced of it.  Just yesterday:

  • She purchased a black coat (all pink all the time evidently isn’t good enough any more)
  • Slammed door to her room because I messed up her hair (don’t touch the hair dad)
  • Wants privacy while changing and preening (please help me with the spray on conditioner but then shut the door)
  • I now have to ask permission to lay on her bed

She even told Yael off for not dressing nice enough every day.
What the f?

Again

Filed under: Uncategorized — Howard Scott Silverman @ 4:11 pm

Noah climbed out again this morning.  We found him casually walking down the hallway, drinking the “lalo” (fruit smoothie) we handed him at 4am to keep him quiet.

No biggie.

Trips to Target and Babies-R-Us last weekend were unable to produce the prison system necessary to keep him secure.

Ordered one through Amazon, hopefully here today.

Not in chicken?

“I know this song, but not in chicken”

So says G while enjoying her first movie, at a theatre, with mom and dad.

Old or young, the new Muppet movie is worth seeing.

You’ll recognize the origin of her comment when you see it.

Daredevil . . .or bad parents . . .or both

Cute little cuddly bear Noah had himself a ball of a time this Thanksgiving weekend:

1)  Made concerted effort to climb into a hot oven (375 degrees to be exact).  Mom screamed and baby sitter wrestled him away.

2)  Grabbed kitchen knife off the counter.  As he placed it against the palm of his hand, Dad screamed and managed to wrestle it away.

3)  Climbed out of his crib at 4am.  Discovered as his ritual morning screaming started growing closer.  Both mom and dad jumped out of bed to find him marching down the hall with arms flailing furiously.

Though he managed to survive all of the above without even a mark, in the absence of more vigilant parenting and / or a more sane child, we fear a visit to an ER is inevitable.

Guessing game. . .

Filed under: Uncategorized — Howard Scott Silverman @ 3:56 pm

Captail Vah has mom and dad doing a bit of guessing these days.

While his vocabulary has proliferated, his pronunciation hasn’t really kept up.  Either that, or he’s a baby genius working on a new language.

Common words:

Up = pah

Vacuum = vah

Raisens = ray

Swing = sin

Fruit roll = ui o

Fruit smoothie = la loo

Schnitzelle = Dog dog

Gabrielle = G G

Mine = mi

He has started to string together 2-3 words.  But, absent mom and dad, or sometimes both guessing together, we are left scratching our heads a bit.

To be loved

D:  Smile for the camera

G:  (Fixing her hair)

D:  You’re beautiful G, but you know what’s more important than being beautiful?

G:  To be loved

Amen

Not sure who taught her how to pose for photos.  What a princess.

Just Don’t Touch . . .

Like a kid in a candy store, Captain N found himself at the apple orchard last week.

He’s the sweetest little guy but don’t ever try to take his fruit away.
